Join us in learning about the fascinating geology of Baxter State Park. Our presenter will be Lindsay Theis of the Maine Geological Survey. Since 2016, Lindsay has been creating maps of surficial (glacial) geology deposits in Maine and researching landslide hazards.

Preparing For a Katahdin Hike
Come learn how to prepare for a Katahdin climb! We will cover logistics, safety and risk management, trail choices, and weather. We will also do a comprehensive gear review and provide a packing list for spring, summer, and fall trips. There will be plenty of time for questions. Our presenter will be Aaron Megquier, Executive Director of FBSP and Registered Maine Guide.
This session is appropriate for:
Anyone who wants to climb Katahdin for the first time or hasn't climbed in a while
Anyone who has climbed Katahdin once or twice, but wants to gain more experience
Anyone who will be climbing with first-time Katahdin hikers in their party
Anyone who wants to increase safety on the mountain for themselves & their loved ones
