BYCC Career Workshop

A group of this year’s Baxter Youth Conservation Corps participants recently spent some time with Zachary Glidden of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Zac is a Fisheries Resource Biologist, and he is working on a multiyear project within Baxter State Park to Survey fish populations across the entire Park.

We met Zac and his intern at the Katahdin Stream Campground for a presentation about a career in Fisheries, a demonstration of Electrofishing, a review of survey protocols and sampling techniques, and an overview of what they hope to gain by collecting this data.

Thank you, Zac Glidden, the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and Baxter State Park, for this incredible opportunity to learn about fish populations and the technology used in that process.
