Search and Rescue

Supporting Maine's Volunteer Rescue Teams

Friends of Baxter State Park is proud to support five of Maine’s finest volunteer search and rescue teams. These teams regularly assist with incidents in Baxter State Park, particularly on large, complicated, or technical searches. In partnership with the Maine Association for Search and Rescue, we provide scholarships to a specialized high-angle rescue course called Rigging for Rescue. This course focuses on advanced rope rescue techniques that are critical to rescues in the high-angle terrain of Baxter State Park. Our partners on this scholarship program include:

Lincoln Search and Rescue
Franklin Search and Rescue
Mahoosuc Mountain Rescue Team
MDI Search and Rescue
Wilderness Rescue Team
