MYWLP Expansion Success

This year, the Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program doubled its impact and worked with twenty high school sophomores & juniors from around the state. These rising environmental leaders participated in a pre-program curriculum that included a historical dive into Baxter State Park and research on inspiring environmental leaders. In July, the first group of ten traversed the Park from south to north. Our second group of ten made their way through the Park during the early August heat wave.

Each group was led by amazing leaders from Chewonki and had a unique experience learning from Park staff, artists, storytellers, their leaders, themselves, and each other during their 9 days in the Park. It's empowering to know that these participants will create a bright future for us all.
