Dear Members of the Baxter State Park Authority:
The Friends of Baxter State Park supports the decision of the Baxter State Park Authority to remove the Outlet and Lookout Cabins at Daicey Pond.
We believe that removal of these buildings is consistent with Governor Baxter’s vision and good wilderness management. The pond shoreline is an environmentally and experientially sensitive area. When the cabins are removed, the visual landscape of the pond and the relatively remote experience it offers will improve, and water quality will be better protected. All of these are important wilderness values.
We thank you for your efforts to maintain park facilities in keeping with the wilderness character of the park, while allowing visitors to enjoy the park in the right unspoiled way.
Sincerely,
Charles Jacobi
